UPDATE (October 2024): Big News! I'm back in Buffalo! Just moved back and am now truly "East Coast Dave"... I'm paying for the website, so the stage name is staying! Bellingham WA and Portland OR will always hold special places in my heart, but it's great to be back home!

East Coast Dave (based in Buffalo, NY) has been giving American music “The Pogues treatment” since 1994! By adding a healthy dose of rock and roll energy and Gen X irreverence to the acoustic blues, old-time, and early jazz music of the “old, weird America”, East Coast Dave comes up with his unique take on folk music for the “new, even weirder America”.
Raised on rock n' roll, Dave found his way back to the 78rpm-era country, jazz and blues of the 20s and 30s by connecting the dots backward from his guitar hero influences. A veteran of rock, folk, psychedelic, avant-noise, Cajun, bluegrass, and country bands, Dave knows his musical history. However, he’s far from a vintage suit-wearing museum exhibit. Dave celebrates and incorporates his more modern musical influences into his songwriting and avoids mere imitations of the past.
A formidable and versatile guitarist, mandolinist, and lap-steel/dobro player, Dave moonlights in the Quickdraw String Band, and earned a 2023 Washington Blues Society nomination for “Best New Blues Act” for his recent year-long stint as lead guitarist in Whitewing. Dave has also played in popular Bellingham acts Feed & Seed (bluegrass), and Hoss!! (honky tonk). Born in New Jersey and raised in Western New York State, East Coast Dave lived in the Pacific Northwest since 1998 (Portland OR, Bellingham WA, and now Everson WA). Now back in Buffalo, NY as of September 2024!
